Design Wilds

We are excited to share a wonderful new collection of wildflower-inspired designs from this coming Friday at Galley Lane in Coolum!!

‘Design Wilds’ features imagery inspired by our local wildflowers. It includes works by artists who participated in workshops and wildflower walks as part of a Design Lab at UniSC earlier this year.

It’s currently peak wildflower season and the wallum heathlands around the Sunshine Coast & beyond are ablaze with colourful blooms. This exhibition aims to celebrate these important plants of place that are part of the special ecologies of our local area.

The designs are repeat patterns so they can be repurposed as prints on posters, fabrics, clothing and accessories. We hope that by being surrounded by wildflowers in our daily lives, we might raise awareness so that we seek to protect them.

‘Design Wilds’ is curated by Sue Davis, Marni Stuart and Lisa Chandler.

Come see the exhibition in Galley Lane, Coolum from this coming Friday through to mid-September. (Galley Lane is an initiative of the Coolum Art Project, Coolum Residents Association).

If you’d like to join a wildflower walk, see Wild/flower Women Projects on Eventbrite.

Our poster features designs by our ‘Wildflowering Design Lab 2026’ participants, and facilitators/curators

Leighanne McHugh, Samantha Taylor, Sarah Smith, Tigerlily Boyce, Bronwyn Davies

Join Wild/flower Woman Dr Sue Davis on a springtime wildflower walk, with the wildflowers blooming in the dunes behind Noosa

Discover the springtime wildflowering in the dunes behind Noosa. Enjoy the amazing diversity as we wander and walk, seeing what is in bloom, and enjoying some quality time in nature. You will be provided with a map with likely species we will see. Your guide Dr Sue Davis and other Wildflowering Collective members will share stories, insights and information about the flowers and plants of the area.

Participants under14 must be supervised by an accompanying adult.

We will meet at the entrance to Noosa National Park from Park Edge Rd. We will be doing a circuit that moves through woodlands into heathland and back in a circuit.

We will walk approx 2-3 km, and tracks include some soft sand and hill sections.

Note: that there are no public toilets at this entrance. The closest are at Sunshine Beach or Noosa Junction.
